Joanna, SC — The Joanna Hornets Baseball Club is proud to announce their participation in the newly formed Blue Ridge League for the 2026 summer season. Entering their second year of competition, the Hornets join a talented group of programs from across the Carolinas, Virginia, and West Virginia — all dedicated to providing an elite collegiate summer baseball experience.
The founding members of the Blue Ridge League include the Carolina Disco Turkeys (Winston-Salem, NC), Unwharrie Wampus Cats (Albemarle, NC), Marion Hungry Mothers (Marion, VA), West Virginia Miners (Beckley, WV), and Queen City Corndogs (Charlotte, NC). The league also welcomes three new teams for 2026 — the Joanna Hornets (Joanna, SC), Greenwood Longbows (Greenwood, SC), and Inman Peaches (Inman, SC).
“Joining the Blue Ridge League is an exciting next step for the Hornets organization and our community,” said Michael Riefsnyder, General Manager of the Joanna Hornets. “This league is built on competition, player development, and community connection — three things that are at the heart of who we are. Our players will face top collegiate talent night after night, and our fans will get to enjoy high-level baseball with a fun, family-friendly atmosphere right here in Joanna.”
The Blue Ridge League emphasizes wood-bat play, nine-inning games, and a commitment to player growth, all while offering fans affordable entertainment and unique game-day promotions throughout the summer. Each franchise is dedicated to creating a professional-style experience that blends traditional baseball values with modern fan engagement.
“Our goal for the 2026 season is simple — to compete hard every night and represent Joanna with pride,” Riefsnyder added. “But beyond the wins and losses, we want to continue building something lasting in this community. From youth camps to special events, the Hornets are here to make baseball a centerpiece of summer fun in Laurens County.”
“The formation of the Blue Ridge League represents a new era for collegiate summer baseball in our region,” said Greg Sullivan, Commissioner of the Blue Ridge League. “Every team in this league is committed to high-level competition and creating memorable experiences for fans and players alike. We’re thrilled to welcome the Joanna Hornets and can’t wait to see what this season brings.”
The Hornets will announce their 2026 game schedule, promotional nights, and ticket packages in the coming months. Fans can follow the team on social media or visit https://www.joannahornets.com for the latest updates.
